About David Gardner
Artist's statement
In my art I combine two important personal interests. First, I am intrigued by bold geometric shapes and negative spaces in design. To this end, I use strong colors and sometimes depict my subject matter from unusual angles. Second, as a history buff, I enjoy Colorado's old mining camps, ranches and town sites, etc.. While I certainly paint other subjects, including stylized portraits, I find that these two come together readily and are probably responsible for my revitalized involvement in painting since I came to Colorado in 1987. In recent years, I have painted the interesting shapes and designs that one can find in machinery. I paint mostly in watercolor, including gouache, and in oil. I am currently looking for new places to display my art.
Welcome to my portfolio.
I hope that you enjoy reviewing my paintings, which are categorized into the following pages:
I really appreciate your taking the time to view my art.
Cordially,
David
